Student Expectations

Students using the Tutoring Center are expected to:

  • Tutoring Center Student ExpectationsFollow Highline’s Code of Ethics.
  • Respect other students’ and tutors’ cultures, beliefs, and identities.
  • Honor the privacy of others.
  • Respect the learning environment by:
    • Speaking at a volume that does not detract from the learning of others.
    • Using appropriate language.
    • Cleaning up after themselves.
    • Not talking on cell phones.
    • Keeping their audio devices at a volume that cannot be heard by others.
    • Using furniture appropriately.
    • Limiting food to light snacks.
    • Keeping snacks and beverages away from computer areas.
    • Using computers for academic purposes only.
  • Come prepared with appropriate materials (textbooks, notes, etc.).
  • Sign in and out at the log-in stations.
  • Not to expect tutors to help them with their work in an unreasonable amount of time.
  • Not to take tutoring center resources outside of the tutoring center.
