  • Tutors for all subjects must have a 3.5 or higher in the class they wish to tutor in and be recommended by their instructor.
  • Minimum of a 2.5 Cumulative GPA to be eligible for on-campus student employment.
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits at Highline College.
  • All tutors must attend tutor training.

Peer Navigator Job Description

Broad Scope and Function

The Peer Navigator role at Highline College is a dynamic opportunity for current students who excel academically and possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. As a Peer Navigator, you will be crucial in supporting fellow students by providing academic assistance, study tips, and guidance on navigating campus resources. This position is a vital link between the Academic Success Center and Student Advising, facilitating seamless communication and collaboration to enhance student success

  • Minimum of a 2.5 Cumulative GPA to be eligible for on-campus student employment.
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits at Highline College.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse student populations.
  • Empathetic and approachable demeanor, with a passion for helping others succeed.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Previous experience in peer mentoring, tutoring, or student leadership roles is preferred.

Academic Success Centers Front Desk Associate

Broad Scope and Function

The Academic Success Centers Front Desk Assistants will greet visitors and perform clerical duties.   Front Desk Assistants work closely with Tutoring Center, MRC, and Writing Center staff to provide an inviting and welcoming environment for all visitor

  • Good communication and organizational skills, and a friendly disposition.  
  • Computer/typing skills (including some Microsoft Word and Excel experience) 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a responsible and reliable manner.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical conduct working with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Respect for diversity of students, staff, and faculty, including race, ethnicity, national origin, age, gender and other forms of diversity.

Title 3 Embedded Tutor Position
Pay Rate $17.25 (07-01-2024)

Broad Scope and Function

The Title III Embedded Tutors support the Highline College community through the tutoring of Highline College students within the classes they are hired to support and through dedicated supplemental instruction on sessions. Tutors should be proficient and knowledgeable in the subject area while also demonstrating patience, empathy, and equitable practices when engaging with students.

Position Responsibilities and Qualifications  for Embedded Tutoring Roles:

  •  Provide embedded academic support in respective subjects twice a week via in-person, Canvas and/or online on Zoom.
  • Provide supplemental instructional support through designated study sessions twice a week for assigned classes.
  • Attend weekly CRLA tutor training sessions.
  • Coordinate with instructors in assigned classes to ensure supplemental instruction sessions are properly supporting students’ academic needs in course.
  • Handle multiple tasks in a responsible and reliable manner.
  • Communicate effectively with multi cultural populations and facilitate equitable learning.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational skills, and professional conduct.
  • Work as a team member with other students, staff , and faculty members of Highline College.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of ethical conduct working with students, staff , and faculty.
